| Becoming
a Horse Trainer and Running a Business |
| |
So, you absolutely love horses and you want to be
a horse trainer and run your own business. Being a
horse trainer is a very rewarding career, you always
have to put your horse’s welfare first, and
be willing to work long hours. There are many steps
that you have to take to become a horse trainer, but
anyone can do it if they have the dedication.
|
 |
The first thing that
you need to do is get as much experience as you can
in all areas of horses. This includes the basics from
grooming and horse health to breaking and finishing
a horse’s training. You will also need to ride
as many different horses as you can; this means ride
horses at all levels of their training and from all
of the different disciplines. Working with horses is
dangerous, so you need to be prepared to get hurt at
some point because it is only a matter of time before
you will get injured. You will also need to spend as
much time as you can around horses. You will also have
to decide what type of horse training you will want
to specialize in. Now you have all of the knowledge
to train horse, but you will still need to learn how
to run a successful business.
|
The best thing that you could do
to ensure that your business is successful is to take
a business class. This will teach you the basics and
allow you to build upon what you have learned. It does
not matter if you have a great business if you are unorganized
and cannot find anything. To overcome this, you will
also want to invest in a good computer. It is much easier
to keep all of your financial statements and calendars
on a computer that to have mounds of paper on your desk.
You will also want to keep a very good filing system,
this way you will be able to find important documents
that you can’t keep saved on your computer. Finally,
you will need to advertise. It does not matter how good
a horse trainer you are or how good of a business you
run if people do not know what types of services you
have available.
Be passionate about your career.
If you are not committed to horse training, your horses
and owners will know it and they will find a new trainer.
